Version 2009 Enhancement List
Available February 1, 2009
Major Enhancements
ChronoTrack. Added ChronoTrack to the list of supported chip systems. Importing results from a file or a direct connection through the CT SimpleClient system are both supported. A connection to the Race Director Announcer program has also been established.
Reporting Improvements. By category, reporting has seen more improvements than any other area in the 2009 version of Race Director. Many cosmetic and structural changes have been made based on the popularity of the requests. There is also now the capability for you to have your own logos, color schemes, etc imbedded into the HTML outputs.
Real Time Chip Results. Added a "streaming results" capability to all direct connect programs. With this enabled, results will cycle to Race Director and results will automatically be calculated on a even minute cycle as specified on the direct results screen.
Cross Country Reporting. Made several enhancements to the base cross country reports. Changed the menu paths to be a bit more logical. See the details in the Reports section below.
USAT and USATF. Put tracking these participants more in the core Race Director processes. The 2009 USAT requirements for reporting results via an exported text file now flows directly out of the standard Overall Results reporting process.
Lap Results. In the past few years, scoring lap races is becoming much more common. Race Director 2009 has incorporated several changes in setup, results imports and reporting to accommodate the many challenges related to this sort of event.
Reports
Added controls to the Data Select screen found on many reports to allow you to save and retrieve data selection settings.
On the Data Select screen, force entered filter values to upper case when the optional data field only allows upper case.
When generating a report to a spreadsheet, added an option to allow you to store and retrieve additional field selections.
Added the ability to have "customized" HTML reports - with color schemes, etc that match your specific requirements. To have Race Director HTML reports converted to your requirements does require an estimate and a small programming fee.
Changed chip system imports to work for all team relay members in scenarios where all have different bib numbers.
Added a new results export to the exact requirements specified by the USA Triathlon association. This capability has been added to the GRU output screen.
Added a check-box to the Age Group report where you can toggle whether or not top finishers are also included in the age groups.
Changed the compressed version of the Overall Participant List to show city / state instead of age group and t-shirt size.
Changed the Age Group report setup screen to not allow sequencing male and female age groupings together if the race is set up with an unequal number of male and female age groupings.
Enhanced the Laps reporting process to get the relay team member correct on the detail reports for relay teams where everyone has their own bib numbers. Now, the reporting properly aligns the lap number with the actual relay team member who competed in the lap.
Re-arranged the Age Group and Overall Reports dialog box to allow them to fit for low resolution display settings.
Cross Country - Created a new option off the reports menu to run the cross country Overall Finish List. The report used to be an option in the Detail Team Report. Now the Detail Team Report is only used for the reporting the participant finish details, grouped by team.
Cross Country - Added an option to the cross country Overall Finish List to show "qualifiers". Qualifiers are defined on the report prompt screen as a specific number of teams and individuals who qualify to go on to the next level of competition. This is often used in high school regional results reporting - showing who qualifies to go onto the state competition.
Cross Country - Changed the cross country Overall Finish List to report separately by gender.
Changed the Pre Race Demographic report to give an option to sequence the report by zip code instead of city name.
For IPICO, added option to Returned Chip Audit Report to take reads from the USB Registration Reader device.
Added several new entries to the "additional fields" selection box when generating a report to a spreadsheet. Fields added - Division Name, Division Finishers (female, male, total), Age Group Description, Age Group Finishers, Team Name, Team Classification Name, Relay Team Name.
Changed the Pre Race Age Group report to print country when the race is tailored for country. Also added an option to not print city / state / country on this report.
Changed the Pre Race Alpha report to print country when the race is tailored for country.
Added the option of printing country name in place of city / state on the Pre-Reg Alpha List, Pre-Reg Age Group report, Age Group Results report, Overall Results report and on all List reports.
Added the option to replace the bib number with any optional data field on the detailed laps report.
Results Processing
Added the capability to score teams by place within gender.
Expanded the number of digits for the hour in cumulative time for team events from 2 to 3.
Removed all "Calculate Results?" prompts unless you set a tailoring prompt indicating you want to see these. Otherwise, results will always be re-calculated as you exit screens that may have changed something impacting the results.
Lap Results - added the capability to express the minimum time needed to qualify for a lap time in seconds vs. minutes.
Changed chip system imports to work for all team relay members in scenarios where all have different bib numbers.
For races with a wave start by division or by age group, added an option to allow you to specify by bib number an over-ride wave offset time. This is found by selecting the Finish Results button on the Update -> Participants screen. Note: after creating an override wave offset time for a participant, results must be re-calculated.
Added sensing the ChronoTrack "GunTime" marker to the chip results import process. Added further checks to not ask about the gun time marker if the gun time is already set to the exact same time.
Added further checks to the chip results import with regard to the gun time. All results where the imported time is less than the gun time will be ignored - and a warning with a count of records ignored will be shown.
Enhanced the results entry process to handle team relay scenarios where each participant has a unique bib number.
Changed all direct connect programs to automatically update Race Director's gun time as soon as the gun time is updated on the direct connect screen.
Changed the Start Time import "Quarantine" logic to give the option of specify a "pull only from division" option. This allows you to specify for a wave start quarantine division that it will only add participants into this quarantine division if their original registration division is the one specified.
For ChronoTrack, allow a bib / chip cross reference so that unused chip numbers from a previous race can be assigned to different numbers in the current race.
Added a direct connection to the Time Machine in the Lap Results import process. This will directly pull in results recorded on the Time Machine keypad for lap result recording.
For IPICO, added option to the Chip Results screen to take simulated results from the USB Registration Reader device.
For IPICO, added a Results Kiosk option - intended for a standalone PC where participants can scan their tag using the Registration Reader and see personalized results data.
Added a "Replay" button to all of the Chip System direct connect screens. This allows you to read in a results file from a completed race and replay it as if the race is occurring in real time. You can speed up the replay in increments of 2X up to 64X.
Participant Entry
Added a new bib assignment method - division / gender / team / name. Useful for cross country.
For IPICO, added a Registration Kiosk option - intended for a standalone PC where participants can scan their tag using the Registration Reader and confirm all of their registration data is accurate.
Increased the size of the last name from 15 to 20 positions.
Import / Export
Added the ability to import additional team relay participants to an already existing relay team.
Tailoring
Date formatting - in addition to Month / Day / Year, dates can be updated and displayed in Day / Month / Year and Year / Month / Day formats.
Country Codes - Added the option of tracking the participant's country as either a 2 or 3 character country code. Most online registration services send the country code as a 2 or 3 character country abbreviation. Race Director automatically converts the country code to the name of the country when printing labels and where country is specified to print on reports.
Added a button to the Tailor --> Options screen to fix birth date problems (year) that can occasionally happen during participant imports from Excel.
Changed the bib / chip import for IPICO to allow bib in column A and Chip in column B or in the reverse order as well.
Added two new fields as standard Race Director data elements - USA Triathlon Number and USA Track and Field Number. Also added a function to convert this data from an optional data field on both the race and master participant file.
Added the ability to transfer all data from one optional data field to another. Works for both the race data and the master participant data.
In Tailor --> Divisions, you are now allowed to switch a division to and from being a team relay division - even after participants are entered for that division.
For IPICO, added option to Bib / Chip Assignment screen to take reads from the USB Registration Reader device.
Labels / E Mail
Added an option on the Label Print screen to allow omitting address information on Participant ID labels.
Changed the mass email send process to bypass duplicate email addresses.
Miscellaneous
Added a direct connection to the Winning Times chip system to the Announcer screen.
Added a "Do not show again" check-box to many of the Race Director informational messages.
Changed Chip Direct Connect programs to sense whether or not Race Director is running in Data Share mode. If RD is not in share mode, the direct connect programs will not start.
Added an option to the Timer program to sound a tone each time a time is recorded.
Announcer Screen - Added the option of replacing participant Name / City with the relay team name.
Added a warning to the Announcer screen when closing the screen without a final save of results.
Added the option to the Announcer screen to not show city.
