Race Director 2012 Ideas
April 22, 2011 - The development of Race Director 2012 is underway. Extended Support customers can contact me at any time to gain access to the new version. I'm very interesting in everyone's ideas about what you would like to see in next year's release. Use "Read More" to see what is coming or "Add Comment" to provide some input for Race Director 2012.
Your input is important in deciding what additional features will be implemented in Race Director 2012. -Roger
The following are some of the ideas that will be addressed first.
-
Major improvements to "Extended HTML" output.
Currently, the table structure in this HTML is very inefficient. The change will result in better looking HTML and content files that are about 35% the size of the current Extended HTML pages. Here's a sample of the old HTML (275K) and here is a sample of the new HTML (81K).
-
Early Start - More and more races are allowing participants to enter the course as an "early start".
Typically, these participants are trying to finish ahead of the course shut-down time. A new chip import process will be developed so that these times will be "added" to the participant's gun time. This will enable you to have standard wave starts (wave time subtracted) for the rest of the participants. The design will be such that if a "true" start start time is encountered for a participant who has an early start time, the early start time will be canceled.
-
Races with more than 5 segments.
I have done some custom work where GRU output is needed for more than 4 splits. For this, the design is to set up the race as a single segment race to collect the finish times. All segment times are recorded using the lap results import process. Once all times are collected, they are passed through to the GRU output process.
-
Retaining discarded chip results.
Currently, Race Director ignores all but the final time for a participant when collecting start times and ignores all but the first time encountered when collecting intermediate and finish times. The ignored times are currently not saved. With this modification, ignored times will be saved and you will be given access to these times within the "Finish Results" screen found in Update -> Participants.
