Results Kiosk - Success Story

April 2, 2012 - The Results Kiosk was used recently at a race scored by Aaron Ford and Jeannine Henderson in Davis, California and they passed along a note with their experience.

Yesterday I was working with A Change of Pace Foundation –
I wanted to THANK YOU for implementing the new Single Results Kiosk Screens.

We used it a couple weeks ago as a beta test, however this was the first all-out implementation where we had 8 different kiosks for viewing results.

The race was comprised of 2,200+ runners and featured a 5K/Half/Half Relay. With the great success of the kiosks we didn’t print ANY overall results and there was hardly ever a line for the participants to view their results at the kiosks.

Also the fact that there wasn’t a need for a re-print when a correction was made was a huge plus!

2012 Finishing Touches

March 13, 2012 - This is the time each year that I stop making enhancements and additions to the current version of the software.  At this point in time over 200 timers are on Race Director 2012.  Adding new features always brings along the risk that there is an unintended impact to another component of the system.  From this point forward, only bug fixes and minor improvements will be considered for this version of the software.  In mid April, Race Director 2013 will become available for those on the Extended Support plan.

Final 2012 Features added
- Results Kiosk Enhancements - Chatsworth Optical Mark Reader Addition
- Email Exceptions - Updating Unknown Participant Data

Cross Country Season 2012

August 23, 2012 - It's that time of year again - cross country season is upon us.  Some nice changes are available in RD 2012 for cross country including a better integration with Athletic.net.

I'm always so surprised to hear is how common cross country events have become for both high school and college meets across the US.  To that end, a Getting Starting Guide has been created which will help you though the basics of cross country scoring.  Before attempting your first meet this fall, be sure to install the latest 2012 update to take advantage of all of the recent improvements and corrections.
Please read this: Getting Started Guide.

Race Director 2012 Development Update

December 17, 2011 - All major additions to Race Director 2012 are completed now.  I have a long list of minor changes that I still hope to get to before I consider RD 2012 to be in "bug fix only mode".  I won't begin work on RD 2013 until the spring.  Many have subscribed early for 2012 support and are actively using the new release.  For those who wish to wait a few months before jumping to the new release, rest assured that Race Director 2011 will continue to be supported as  you use it in your races.   You can find the latest 2011 update at the bottom of the 2012 Update page.

New Features Recently added
- DNF / DNS Improvements   - More Versions of Excel Supported
- Results Kiosk Improvements - Chip Results Import Improvements

Please Continue to Send Ideas my Way
I have quite a stock-pile now, but as I hear the same ideas repeated from multiple timers, I tend to give those a bit more priority.  Please also continue to use the Forum for sharing your stories / ideas and asking questions of the RD community.  Click on Read More for additional details on the features recently added.    -Roger
