2014 Chris Cook Memorial Run

Fremont, MI - Saturday, July 19, 2014 is the date for the 41st Annual Chris Cook Memorial Run.  This year, the event starts at the new Fremont High scool and there is a new event distance.  Again this year, the distances are 5K and 10 Mile.  The 10 Mile race goes around Fremont Lake - just like the early days for this race.  The race is put on as a part of the National Baby Food Festival and starts at 8:30 am.  This race originated in 1973 and has run every year since.  The race became a part of the National Baby Food Festival in 1986. For more details and to sign up for the race, go to the Event Website.

Course Description
Both courses start and finish near the high school.  The 5K cours follows residential Streets within the city.  The 10 Mile race loops around Fremont Lake.

The Race Director Webinar on YouTube

Thank you to everyone who attended our very first Race Director Webinar!

Fremont, MI - May 27, 2014 - The feedback I've receive on this training has been entirely positive.  I'm working towards regularly scheduled Race Director Webinars on different topical subjects in the future.

To view a pre-recorded a webinar for those who could not attend the May 27th webinar, use this link http://www.theracedirector.com/YouTube  Subscribe to the channel on YouTube if you want to keep current with the latest Race Director topics as we cover them.

You can also click on the links below to go directly to the videos
2014RD Part 1 - Inital Race Setup, Divisions, Age Groups and Top Finishers
2014RD Part 2 - Configuration of Timing Points. Importing participant spreadsheet
2014RD Part 3 - Entering results for the demo race and running a results report
2014RD Part 4 - Triathlon Timing Points. Result Reports. Dynamic Bib Assignment

Unfortunely we had two problems occur during our first webinar.  Starting the session early for a webinar that only allowed for a maximum length of one hour, meant we had to end early.   I was also fooled by the setting that 250 could register for the webinar to mean that this many callers could also attend.  My webinar plan only allowed 100 participants, we had 136 participants registered, so some late comers were not allowed in.  My apologies for these issues that will be resolved for our next webinar session.

I will let you know through a newsletter article when the next Webinar topic is scheduled.
Please comment below or email me if you have any questions or suggestions for upcoming webinar sessions.

Race Director Spring 2014 Update

Fremont, MI - May 5, 2014. It's been an extremely active year so far in the Race Director timing world.  I'd like to bring everyone up to date on several topics.

Race Director 2014
There have been a few more  changes in RD 2014 in the first few months than I've seen at the beginning of other years.  Many were related to the new Timing Point processes introduced in RD 2014.  I've also made quite a few improvements that you'll be interested in reading about.  There has also been a lot of activity in the systems that RD integrates - specifically my-finish.com, Run Sign Up, CT Live and Xact.

Race Director 2015
I now have a start on the development of Race Director 2015.  A working release of the new version will be available to Extended Support customers within a few weeks.

Webinar Tuesday, May 27th
I plan on holding the first ever Race Director Webinar on Tuesday, May 27th @ 8 pm Eastern time.  I will spend 45 minutes covering new features in Race Director 2014.

Please click on Read More below for additional details on all these topics.

Chicago User Conference 2014

Chicago, IL - March 20, 2014 - Thank you to the 50 timers and business partners attending the Chicago User Conference yesterday. I feel so blessed having such a great group of customers to work with. I appreciate all of the compliments from the timers, but you as a group of timers and partners need to be complimented as well.

2014 Timing Season Underway

Fremont, MI - February 24, 2014 - This is the time of year when I really start to see a pickup in activity related to Race Director.  At this point, there are close to 200 timers using Race Director 2014 with hundreds of races scored with the new release.  Keep your ideas for improvements coming my way.  I'm developing quite a list for 2015.

New Chip Timing Partner
I'm pleased to announce that Race Director now integrates with the race result chip timing equipment.  At this point, we have imports of timing data from this system working under both the standard chip results import and the lap results import.  Next, we'll be working on creating a Direct Connect option for this system.  For more information about this system, visit www.raceresult.com, or contact their US sales representative Mark Bockmann - mark.bockmann@raceresult.com.

2014 User Conference
It's not too late to register for the the March 19 user conference in Chicago.  I've had over 40 timers express interest in the conference - at this time there are 25 officially registered.  The conference will be held at the Chicago O'Hare Hilton Doubletree and will include a thorough run-through of Race Director 2014 - concentrating on all of the new features.  We'll also see in-depth demonstrations of the Race Director integration with CT Live, Run Sign Up and Xact.  Use the Race Director "Buy Now" button to secure a spot at this conference. Time is running out on the $129 hotel rate.  Register for the hotel using this link.
